Hello Cub Scout Parents,
As we discussed at our Pack Meeting, Popcorn sales have begun! This is an important fundraiser for the Pack as the proceeds will be used to keep down annual dues and additional activities. Last year, we sold over $19,000 (a percentage goes directly to the pack) of popcorn and I believe that we can do even better this year!
There are three primary ways for your Scouts to participate in popcorn sales:
Show and Sells: We will be setting up tables to sell popcorn at various locations on September 22nd, 23rd, 29th, and 30th. Some scouts signed up for slots already (see below). Please reach out to me at robertsegal@gmail.com to sign up for remaining spots. I am also working to line up a few more locations for the weekend of October 6th so stay tuned! Popcorn sales will be split amongst the scouts that worked each time slot.
Take Orders: This is the traditional method of having your Scouts take orders from people in your community. Order forms and payment will be returned to me, I’ll place one order for the whole pack, and then the Scouts can deliver their popcorn.
Online Sales: This can be an important component of your Scout’s popcorn sales and allows them to reach people that are not geographically accessible! You will need to register your Scout at the Trail’s End website and be sure to associate yourself with Mayflower Council, Metacomet District, Medfield Pack 113. Please note that online sales count toward a separate prize competition but 50% of revenue goes directly to the pack.
Key Dates
Today – Popcorn Sales officially begin
September 22nd – Show and Sales begin
October 24th – Take Order due back to Rob Segal (I’ll send a reminder e-mail with drop off times and locations)
November 17th – Take Order pick up begins (I’ll send a reminder with pick up times and location but please note that pick up will be available on this day and then not for a week due to Thanksgiving travel)
Additional Information
You should have received an order form in the mail. I have many extras, but you can also download and print out the order form.
In addition to the prizes shown on the order form, there are additional prizes through the Council for Scouts that sell over $750 worth of popcorn including movie and Providence Bruins tickets.
Lastly, as we mentioned at the Pack Meeting, this is my first year as the Popcorn Kernel, so there may be some bumps in the road. Please bear with me and I will do my best to solve any challenges that come up. Please reach out if I can help in any way.
